A little about this mentor:
I'm currently studying Social Work and Creative Leadership at WSU, and I aim to become an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker but it I'm also just riding the wave and seeing where the journey takes me. I've always had a real passion for learning and connecting with people from different walks of life. Being in Western Sydney, we're surrounded by such a diverse community, and I truly appreciate the unique stories, strengths, and challenges that each person brings. I know uni can sometimes feel overwhelming especially if you're the first in your family to study, or if It's a bit of a culture shock. That's why I wanted to be a mentor. I'm here to help create a space where new students feel welcomed, encouraged, and supported. Whether It's helping you access essential uni services, finding your way around, or just being someone you can talk to, I've got you! Outside of study, I'm big on music - especially RNB, rap, and Afrobeats. I love going for walks to reset, and I take my Uno games very seriously, so if you're up for a challenge, just know I don't play to lose.
Further Leadership Skills: Other Being part of the WSU Academy has really helped me grow my leadership skills in a way that feels true to who I am. It's taught me that leadership isn't just about speaking up It's about listening, showing empathy, and creating space for others to feel heard and supported. Through workshops and projects, I've learned how to work with people from all walks of life, and that's something I carry into everything I do, especially in mentoring.
A little about their culture: I'm a proud African-Australian woman with roots in Sierra Leone and Liberia. My culture is a big part of who I am It's shaped my values, my strength, and the way I connect with others, which may be similar to you.
