Academic literacy workshops aim to equip you with the necessary academic skills to help you succeed in your studies. In a workshop you will meet an experienced literacy tutor and other students who are keen to work on their writing and referencing skills. The workshops are free and voluntary.

You can choose from two-day and four-day on-campus workshops that run at different times throughout the year such as in the pre-semester and mid-semester breaks.

You can also do the workshop online at your own pace.

AAYC was created in July 2019 in response to the need for a Western Sydney University student club that represented African students and friends of Africa. The African Diaspora community and perspective is very important to the Western
Sydney context and beyond. The founders of AAYC have set out to deliver a club that offers students the opportunity to participate in personal and professional enhancing activities that focus on issues affecting Africans on the African continent as well as the Diaspora.

The 3 focus areas of the Collective are:
1. Community engagement

The core objective of the Collective is to provide a creative and supportive network where members can use their passions and skills to build a portfolio that they can transfer into their career area of choice. The Collective endeavours to work on existing and new projects that focus on empowering and uplifting Africans, especially the Diaspora in the Western Sydney Community. Furthermore, the Collective wishes to facilitate cultural understanding and exchanges for members of the wider
community.

Each fortnight we will delve into a current affairs or social topic based around a question the group is looking to answer. The Community Table is a similar format to Triple J's HACK or INSIGHT on SBS. That being at its core, this is a roundtable discussion where a topic is broken down each week.

Shared knowledge, community connection and empathy is the underlying goal for these events. Previous questions included:

- Is education a privilege or a right?
- How can we promote a LGBQTIA+ inclusive work environment?
- How do we bridge our personal backgrounds into a multicultural student community?

The Disability Collective is for carers and students who identify as having a temporary or permanent disability. The collective is open to all carers and students who have sensory, intellectual, physical, mental and/or other disabilities or chronic health conditions. The role of the Disability Collective is to remove discrimination on the basis of having a disability and engage in activities and advocacy that will further develop accessibility and representation for/of students with disabilities at Western Sydney University.

The collective also serves to assist students within the university with a disability or carer role to have a presence in student representation.

"This club is in affiliation with EWB Australia and will come under the NSW region. see https://www.ewb.org.au/explore/chapters/nsw for more information about the chapter. As a Western Sydney University club we will develop our own contributions to EWB. The aims of the Student Club are:

i. Bring together like-minded Western Sydney University Students for the purpose of improving their social and cultural experience through offering member events and activities focused on benefiting the community as a whole.

The Environment Collective (EC) aims to move our efforts beyond the false dichotomy of built and natural environments, recognising the indivisibility of our ecological, social and economic realities. As signatory to the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Higher Education Commitment, Western is committed to promoting the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which means acting according to environmentally sustainable principles. We will hold the University accountable, advocating for the integrity and rights of Nature, and the physical and psychological benefits which flow from immersion in thriving ecosystems.
We have already begun to develop collaborations with the SDSN Youth chapter at Western, the student club P.E.A.C.E. Unlimited which is working towards the SDGs at Western, Hawkesbury Council Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee, Sustainable Futures, and Chaplaincy. We are implementing initiatives aimed at eradicating single-use plastics (cutlery, straws, etc) on campus, discounts for bringing your own coffee cup, avoiding use of plastic bottles at all events, changing air con / heating temperatures by 2 degrees, and installing a student-community food garden.
The EC will continue to strive to empower the Uni – and ourselves – to adopt ethical and sustainable practices for the sake of Humanity and our Home.

The Ethno-Cultural Collective is a student led body with a scope that goes beyond that of a single cultural club, but aims to create an autonomous, safe, and inclusive space for students that facilitates discussion around the politics and subsequent injustices that impact ethnic minorities and people of colour.

The International Youth and Students for Social Equality club aims to develop an international movement among students against militarism, war and social inequality. The IYSSE will hold regular forums to discuss the daily political analysis of the World Socialist Web Site, dealing with current political events, Marxist philosophy, economics, history and the arts in order to raise the level of political discussion on campus. The IYSSE aims to promote the intellectual traditions of classical Marxism associated with the names of Marx, Engels, Lenin, Luxemburg and Trotsky and to educate students in the history and principles of the Trotskyist movement - the International Committee of the Fourth International.

We are a cultural appreciation society dedicated to South-Korea’s wonderful achievements in pop-culture. We have a simple mission to make friends and share our interests at university. Western Sydney University Muslim Students’ Association (WSMSA) is the official representative body of Muslims on campus. WSMSA operates on a cross-campus level.

On the Parramatta campus, WSMSA aims to:

- Cater to the needs of Muslims on campus and foster an Islamic environment;

- Propogate Islam and its understanding, to both Muslims and non-Muslims

WSMSA Parramatta seeks to achieve these objectives through maintaining the prayer room for all Muslims to use, arranging both social and religious events, and breaking-down barriers between Muslims and non-Muslims. We also barrack for the provision of halal food for Muslims on campus, . These things, amongst many others, are done to accommodate the needs of Muslims on campus.

We also hold events and initiatives to promote Islam. These events focus on a variety of topics, from core Islamic matters central to every Muslim, to the controversial topics that flourish the headlines. Through this, we aim to educate Muslims and non-Muslims about Islam so that they may gain a sound and thorough understanding, as we seek to engage in intellectual discourse with all manner of other faiths.

We hope that WSMSA Parramatta can serve and assist the student population by engaging as a dynamic and creative student body on the basis of Islam.

The aim of every PASS session is to give you the opportunity to understand the unit content and develop study strategies to help improve your academic performance. All PASS sessions are facilitated by a senior student who has recently successfully completed the unit and who has been trained in facilitating collaborative learning sessions. To commence a NSW Health placement, students must produce evidence of current immunisation or vaccination against infectious diseases.

Students MUST be assessed, and as an outcome of your assessment you may be deemed 'Compliant', 'Temporary Compliant' or 'Not Compliant'.

It is a mandatory requirement for your NSW Health placement, and you cannot attend your placement without it. The Student Compliance team is here to assist you.
